Converting 6-Way of Trailer to 7-Way to Connect to 2003 GMC Sierra 2500HD

Question:

I have an 03 2500HD GMC as a tow vehicle. I recently added a Demco 8600 capacity actuator to my boat trailer, I need to add the back up lights wiring for the lock out solenoid for backing up. On the GMC, it’s the center pin that has the back up lights. I’m trying to choose a 7-6 cord to wire it together. It appears that some 7-6 don’t incorporate the center pin. I’d like to choose one that does. Any suggestions? Thanks

Whenever possible I recommend avoiding adapters if they aren't needed as it's another connection point that can cause issues. Since the 7-way connector is much more common than the 6-way I would recommend replacing the 6-way on your trailer with a 7-way that matches your vehicle directly.

Easy solution for that is the part # A10-7081VP. I attached a diagram for 7-ways for you to check out as well as one for a 6-way to help make the transition easy.
