Parts Needed to Connect European 7-Pin to U.S. 4-Way Flat
Question:
I’ve got a US spec 2017 Toyota Highlander but live in Germany. I’m required to have a light bar on my toe hitch mounted bike rack and have bought that accessory. I’m curious what parts you recommend I purchase and how best to splice the two different systems flat 4 pin to 7 round. On my euro 7 round connector I’ve got brown I believe to be running lights, yellow/green turn signal, white ground, and red I believe to be brakes. What do you recommend?

There are a few parts you will need, and this will require you cutting off your European 7-pin. First, you'll need a U.S. 4-way, the Hopkins Endurance 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector # HM48110, along with Converter # 118158. If you take a look at the accompanying diagram, you can see exactly how to wire the converter to the 4-way and you will need to do this with Butt Connectors - 22-18 Gauge # DW05743-5 and 16-14 Gauge # DW05744-5.
