Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit to 6 Pole Round Connector on 2016 Kia Soul

Question:

I have a Roadmaster Towbar with a 6 pole connector that connects to the RV and to the tow vehicle. The Diode Wiring Kit seems to have a pole connector. Will I get instructions on how to connect it to the 6 pole connector I also purchased? Also, your diagrams shows 4 wiring diagrams. Which one do I need to use for my Kia Soul? Thanks

First off, thank you for your recent purchases! It looks like you're getting your 2016 Kia Soul ready for flat towing, which is a rather large undertaking, but we're here to help make that as easy as possible. I'll start off by saying that after looking at your orders, there is at least 1 part you'll probably need if you don't already have it-but I will get to that shortly.

The wiring diagram you're going to use for the Hy-Power Diode Kit # RM-154 depends on the wiring of both your RV and your Kia Soul- the Soul has a combined wiring system, so I've attached the 2 diagrams that apply to that installation. You'll just need to determine how your RV tail/brake lights are wired.

You're going to install the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Kit # RM-154 as shown in the instructional diagrams and video I've linked, then you're going to need to cut off the plug that ends up at the front of your Kia Soul in order to put on a 6 pole round connector like the Roadmaster 6-Wire Trailer Connector # RM-910030-7 , which will work with the wiring on your Roadmaster Sterling All-Terrain Tow Bar # RM-576 . You may also want to add the mounting bracket # RM-910030-5 so that the new connector doesn't just hang off of the front of your vehicle when it isn't being used.

I've attached the installation video of the Roadmaster Diode Kit, the Sterling Tow Bar and the 6-wire trailer connector to this answer so that you've got something easy to follow to help out with the installation of this connector.

On the tow bar video, the first 2-3 minutes or so covers the installation of the 6 way connector to the vehicle. This information is covered in more detail in the 6 wire connector video, but you may find it beneficial to watch both of them.

Please let me know if you have any other questions about this process. Happy towing!
