Do You Need to Cut Bumper on 2020 Tesla Model 3 for EcoHitch Receiver

Plan on getting the EcoHitch for my 2020 Tesla Model 3 but see notes about cutting the bumper and adding a separate piece to cover it up when you aren't using the hitch? Is that still the case with the new models? Thanks for your help.

On previous models of the Tesla model 3, which the EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch # EH84GR was also confirmed to fit, it was indeed a requirement that a section of the bumper fascia be cut to allow space for the drop-down receiver. A separate piece would then be recommended to cover this opening when the hitch wasn't in use to avoid exposure to the elements.

The good news though is that with your 2020 Model 3, Tesla has made this process much simpler by adding a factory panel right where this cutout needed to be made. This eliminates the need to actually cut it out and since the panel can be popped back in, you don't need to add anything else to cover it up when you aren't using the hitch.

I have attached an installation video that you can also use for reference.
