Can Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 24719 Support a Bike Rack and Bikes on a 2003 Acura RSX

Question:

Hi, I am thinking about buying this hitch for my Acura RSX. Like most Japanese cars, the trunk floor is paper thin, so I am wondering whether the combined weight of the hitch, the bike rack and my bikes I only intend to carry 2 bikes will destroy the trunk floor. If this hitch isnt safe for my car, please recommend another one. Thanks.

The two connection points that go through the trunk floor on Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24719 are there for stability as well as to secure the hitch to the vehicle. A lot of the tongue weight on the hitch will be support by the rear most connection point on the vehicle which is on the tow hook.

This hitch and method of connection to the vehicle would work well for a bike rack and 2 bikes maximum. I have included a link to the installation instructions and a link to a video showing a typical installation for you to view.

This is a Class I trailer hitch so only bike racks compatible with a Class I hitch can be used. I recommend the Swagman Titan, # S63400. It is Class I compatible, it can tilt away from the vehicle, it has anti-sway cradles, and an integrated cable lock. I have included a link to a video review of this rack for you.

Another option is to use a trunk mount bike rack. You will not need a hitch and you can carry up to 3 bikes instead of just 2 with a Class I hitch. I have included a link to the trunk mount bike rack options we list for a 2003 Acura RSX.
