Installation of 20k Fifth Wheel Hitch # RP30928 Fit on A 2003 Ford F-250/350 Super Duty Truck

In the description for this model, it says the head can be removed with removal of two pins and clips. Once assembled this is a one piece hitch. I wanted a two piece for easier removal. Also, there is two rubber bumpers that are not mention in the assembly instructions. Can the bolts that mount the head to the rails be ed from the outside-in or do they have be installed from the inside-out. Thank You

The head unit on the Reese M5 20k Fifth Wheel Hitch, part # RP30928, can be removed from the head support of the hitch by removing one large pivot pin held in place by a large cotter pin. This will make it easier for one person to remove the hitch from the vehicle. Our description says two pins and clips, but it is only one on the 20K hitch. I am going to have them update that information.

The rubber bumpers included with the # RP30928 hitch are designed to prevent and/or limit contact between components on the hitch. The bumpers will install to the head support of the hitch and use the holes located on the front side of the hitch.

I am including a link to a video of the hitch being installed on a truck and it will show in detail how to remove and install the head unit and where the bumpers are attached. The video is on a Reese hitch which will be the same as the Pro Series hitch, which is made by Reese.

I spoke with my contact at Reese and he said for ease of installation and safety reasons they recommend to install the four bolts that hold the head support to the legs with the head of the bolts toward the inside and the nuts on the outside.
