To tow a light weight trailer with the 2020 BM X5, you need a hitch, hitch lock, trailer wiring, and ball mount with ball.
For the hitch, I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 76288 which is a custom fit hitch for your BMW so there is not any drilling required for installation. This is the only hitch option for the BMW at this time but Draw-Tite is a great brand that is known to make quality hitches. I have attached the installation instructions for your reference. I recommend to use a hitch lock part # C23519 to protect your investment although it is not required. Otherwise you can use a standard pin and clip part # PC3.
For the wiring, I recommend ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 119250KIT which is not technically a custom fit part for your vehicle (because there is not one) however it does make the process easier. The ZCI clamps onto the vehicle wiring to get the current it needs instead of splicing into the delicate wiring of the BMW. This is your best option available as far as wiring goes.
Finally for the ball mount I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag. If you are not sure how much rise/drop you may need in a ball mount to tow your trailer level, I recommend to take a look at the helpful article I have attached about how to figure the amount of rise or drop you may need.
