Hydraulic Drum Trailer Brakes for 2,000 lb Timbren Axle-Less System

Question:

Brakes for ASR2000S02. I am looking to convert a 5x8 trailer with no brakes to something with brakes. I was hoping for an electric disk brake using my existing 4 pin connector. Im not sure if such a product exists. I have looked around for surge braking systems with a disk brake but could not fine one compatible with the ASR2000S02 due to the inner/outer bearing sizes. Does one exist? Do you have any suggestions?

There are hydraulic drum brakes you can use with the 2,000 lb Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System # ASR2000S02, you'll just need to get a hub and drum that fits (there are no electric disc brakes available).

The correct hub and drum for this Timbren system is the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K. You will then be able to use the Hydraulic Trailer Brake Kit # AKUBRK-35 with Mounting Hardware # BRKH10B.

With this you are also going to need a hydraulic drum brake actuator, the Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator # T43397007K, and brake lines, the Titan Hydraulic Brake Lines # T4829900.

I have added links to video reviews and installs for you to check out as well.

Question:

Thanks for finding a solution to my question. I will definitely go hydraulic with the a surge actuator. I realized I cannot go larger than a 5.3 x 12 inch tire due to the trailer fenders and I will need free braking. I appreciate what you have found but that combo will mean I would have to up to at least a 13 inch wheel. I think I found a combination that would work. Working backwards from the size of the wheel, to the hub/drum would have to be 8.5" T1544500042. With free backing hydraulic brakes, it boiled down to the T4442100-000. The only thing I am not sure about is if the ASR1200S04 will fit with the T1544500042 hub/drum. I saw that the inner and outer bearings matched up for both products. Are there any other sizing factors to consider when pairing up these three components? I don't expect the max load of the trailer to go over 1000 lbs so I am not concerned about max weights.

Happy to be of some help, and since the bearings and grease seal match up with the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System - Spindle w/Brake Flange # ASR1200S04 and the Titan 5 on 4-1/2 Complete Hub-and-Drum Assembly # T1544500042 they are absolutely compatible. You will then be able to use the Titan Brake Kit # T4442100-000 which will fit in the Titan hubs as they will all work together seamlessly.

To make it easier to order, here are all the parts you will need for the system:

- Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System - Spindle w/Brake Flange - Regular Tires - 1,200 lbs # ASR1200S04
- Titan 5 on 4-1/2 Complete Hub-and-Drum Assembly - Hydraulic Brakes - 8-1/2" # T1544500042
- Titan Hydraulic Brake Kit - Free Backing - 8-1/2" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies # T4442100-000
- Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator - Drum - Multi-Fit Ball - Bolt On # T43397007K
- Titan Hydraulic Brake Lines and Fittings # T4829900
