Is Reese Gooseneck Ball Flaking Expected for 2015 Ford F-350 Super Duty with Reese Gooseneck Hitch

Question:

I have a Reese gooseneck ball for my Ford f350 superduty showing some sign of chrome flaking and minor wear. I grease the ball before each trip. I have approx. 5,000 miles towing my 2017 Jayco Eagle HT 5th wheel. Do I need to consider replacing the ball any time soon or is minor flaking to be expected. Thanks in advance for your help.

Flaking of a gooseneck hitch ball like the High-Rise Pop-In Ball for Reese Elite Series Underbed Gooseneck Hitch # RP19315 is to be expected and you don't have anything to be concerned with. There is a lot of weight being placed on the ball and some wear is going to occur and it sounds like you are also being diligent with maintenance so you there isn't a reason for concern.

When the time does come for you to get a new gooseneck ball, the # RP19315 ball is the correct fit for the Reese Elite Series Under-Bed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # RP30138-26 that fits your 2015 Ford F-350 Super Duty.
