Does a Stabilization Strap Have to be Used with Curt Trailer Hitch 11383 on a 2011 Mazda 3 5-Door

Question:

I was looking at the Curt 1-1/4inch hitch to use with a Kuat Beta for hauling a single bike on my 2011 Mazda 3 5-door. The rear roof spoiler makes it impossible to attach a support strap there. Do you have suggestions?

If there is no where to attach the stabilization strap # 18050 for use with the Curt hitch # 11383 on your 2011 Mazda 3, 5-Door then you may be interested in a different hitch like # 24843 from Draw-Tite. It does not require a strap.

The Draw-Tite trailer hitch will fit models with or without LED tail lights but will not fit MazdaSpeed models.

The other option is to try to hook the strap off to the side of the rear hatch rather than right at the top so you avoid the spoiler.
