Is Trimming Required to Install a Trailer Hitch on a 2012 Jeep Patriot
Question:
i would like to install a trailer hitch on my 2012 jeep patriot. most of the reviewers say they do not have to drill holes or cut the plastic fascia/bumper, but the only customers who say what year patriot they have say they have a 2009. will i have to cut anything to get the hitch to fit if i have a 2012?

The 2012 Jeep Patriot requires a completely different hitch. There are several available and I have included a link to them for you to view. All of the hitches do require at least some fascia trimming for installation.
Out of the available hitches, I recommend the Draw-Tite trailer hitch, # 75712, because it is the most popular Class III trailer hitch for your Patriot that does not require the use of a stabilization strap for non-trailer loads (like the Curt hitch). I have included a link to the installation instructions and a link to a video showing a typical installation for you so you can see what trimming is involved.
If you plan on doing some towing I recommend the etrailer ball mount kit # EBMK4. It comes with a ball mount, interchangeable ball set, hitch pin with clip, and a carrying bag. For trailer wiring use # 118552. I have also included links on the wiring installation.
