According to the installation instructions for the # LC7333939, before the installation, the door trim on that side of the door will need to be removed up to a height of 29-1/2 inches. The lift assist bracket is meant to butt up against the outside of the door jamb, and is 2-3/8 inches wide so you'll need at least 2-3/8 inches of free space between the outside edge of the door jamb and the wall you speak of.

I've provided a diagram showing this dimension.

I only have 2 1/4” horizontal distance from door frame, can the lift assist bracket be modified slightly to accommodate this?

Unfortunately I'm not sure there's a good way to trim down the Lift Assist Bracket to fit a smaller space. The mounting bolts are pretty close to its edge so there's not much you can take off without completely modifying the unit.

Ok, what would “completely modifying the unit” entail? Do you have detailed pictures/drawing?

I don't have any specific directions or drawings for this. When I say "completely modify" I just mean that the whole bracket would need to be altered, new bolt holes drilled, etc. I don't really recommend doing this.
