Standard Extender & Swing-Away Hitch Extender for Kuat Transfer Bike Rack

Question:

Will this kuat bike rack work with a slide in truck camper, or will I have to use an extension attachment? Also is there any way to convert this rack to a swing-away? I have a 05 dodge ram 1500 with a 2 inch hitch, and a slide in popup camper. What rack would suit my needs? Thanks

The Kuat Transfer 2-Bike Platform Rack # TS02G (Gray) and # TS02B (Black) will fit the hitch on your truck, but without knowing anything about how far out the camper extends from the rear of your truck there isn't a way to verify if this - or any bike rack - will require an extension.

What I can do is give you some numbers which you can use to find out if the rack will work, or if you need an extender. From the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the Kuat Transfer is 7-/12 inches, though your bikes may take up some of that room. Realistically, I imagine your camper would interfere with that so you will likely need the Kuat Hi-Lo Hitch Extender # HL20B, which will give you an extra 10 inches.

Finally, in regards to making it a swing-away rack, that is absolutely possible with the Kuat Pivot 2 SwingAway Hitch Extender # PVP20B, which I confirmed with Kuat is compatible with the Transfer bike rack. The accompanying cut out is of the dimensions of this extender which show it is 12-3/8 inches from hitch pin hole to hitch pin hole.

I have added links below to video reviews for you to check out of each of these products:

- Kuat Transfer 2-Bike Platform Rack # TS02G (Gray) and # TS02B (Black)
- Kuat Hi-Lo Hitch Extender - 2" Hitches - 7" or 10" Extension - 2-1/8" Rise/Drop # HL20B
- Kuat Pivot 2 Swing Away Hitch Extender for Bike Racks - 2" Hitches - Passenger's Side # PVP20B
