Question:
PD4560K18LS8: Is the trailer battery that is connected to the Smart Charger, still connected to the vehicle charging system through the 7 pin wire harness? Seems like it would have to be?

The Progressive Dynamics RV Power Control Center with AC/DC Panel part # PD4560K18LS8 has a built-in battery charger which will convert AC current while hooked up to shore power to DC current and then use this to charge the battery bank. This will be separate from the battery charge line ran from the tow vehicle's battery to the trailer's battery bank. The battery charger built-into the distribution panel will only function while hooked up to shore power whereas the battery charger built-into the tow vehicle would most likely only be used when traveling down the road. Therefore, you don't have to worry about any interference or disconnecting one or the other.
The tech note about removing the stock converter charger refers to a separate device that also takes AC current and converts it to DC current to charge the battery bank.
