Solution for Kwikee RV Electric Steps that Work in Reverse After Installed
Question:
My step seems to be working in reverse. When I open the door the step goes in, when I close the door the step goes out. It is a used unit I recently purchased. Any suggestions on fixing it my self?

We're familiar with this issue which happens when the incorrect switch is used. Kwikee Steps use two different magnetic switches. One is a normally open circuit and the other is normally closed circuit. The switch must match the controller. Otherwise, the steps will work in reverse, as you described.
The original switch kit included with the newer Kwikee 32 Series Electric RV Steps # LC372261 is an open circuit. The two magnetic sensor tabs mount in the doorframe and on the door. When the third piece, the rocker switch, is activated, and the two door pieces come in contact with each other, the steps will NOT automatically retract when the door is closed.
Switch # LC301694 is the one you need since it sounds like your 2011 Thor Serrano Motorhome was wired to work with a normally open circuit, but the used Kwikee steps you installed are likely an older model (pre 1999) that used a normally closed circuit switch, like # LC369299.
I've attached an installation video on the switch for you to check out. You can easily install this yourself.
