Trailer Tail Lights Not Working after Installing Tow Ready Wiring # 118491 on a 2009 Honda Pilot

Question:

When I finished instalation I hade no tail light power on the brown lead. Also I had a 20A fuse left over. The kit contained 2-7.5A,1-30A and 1- 20A fuses. The picture shows installing a 30A and a 20A fuse under the hood. The video only shows installing a 30A under the hood. On my 2009 pilot the position for the 20A fuse is labeled trailer Charge. I went ahead and installed it but still did not have power on brown lead with lights on.

It sounds as if there may be a blown taillight fuse or you may have one of the fuses or a relay installed in the wrong position on your 2009 Honda Pilot, after installing the # 118491 T-One connector.

I would start out checking the taillight fuses in the under hood power distribution boxes on your vehicle. If no fuses are blown, go over the installation instructions and the photo I attached and make sure you installed all of the fuses and relays in the correct locations.

The 20 amp charge location under the hood is for activating the 12 volt power circuit at a 7-Way trailer connector and is not needed for installation of the 4-way T-One connector.

Question:

I received the replacement harness you sent and found that the relay in the original packaging was bad. I replaced the relay and the trailer lighting is working great now. Thanks

Thanks for getting back to us. I am glad we were able to help get you going, and we now know that the relay in this kit that goes in the small LT position is related to the taillight circuit.

Let me know if you have any other questions, I will be glad to help.

The 118253 includes 2 relays and both will need to be installed in order for the 7-way to function. See step 3 of the instructions and photo C-1 for specific information for the 118253 kit.
