Wiring for my Atwood Air Conditioner and Heat Pump

Question:

I just purchased from you guys and Atwood air conditioner heat pump dehumidifying rooftop unit. The question I have is that since I am installing this as a second unit on my fifth wheel, is there any need for me to hook up the blue furnace wires? And what are the 12 V wires there for? I have a pre-plumbed front bedroom vent but there are no 12 Volt wires there. Do I need to find a way to run them through the ceiling to this vent? My furnace is run by the thermostat that is also hooked to the rear AC unit

I've reached out to my contact at Atwood and they informed me that with the system you're looking at it requires the 12V wiring to be ran to the remote thermostat. It is a ducted system and will require all wires hooked up except the furnace wires which as you said are operated by the first unit.

I have a great solution for you however that will work with your current set up! You can use the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner w/ Air Distribution Box, Start Capacitor, and Heat Strip - 15,000 Btu part # ACM150CH this will provide you with both the air conditioning and the heat you are looking for. This unit will install using the wires you currently have in place positive negative and an earth contact. The drawback here is that you won't have the remote to use so you will have to manually control it. This would be my choice if I didn't want to run the additional 12V wires. I've included a link to the page for this unit and to the video we did here at etrailer.
