Troubleshooting Gooseneck Hitch Ball Stuck in Hitch

The ball is stuck in the puck system. Any suggestions on how to remove it.

First thing you are going to want to do is spray liberal amounts of lube between the collar and hitch ball, around where you think the retention balls would be. WD40 usually does the trick. Then let this sit for an hour or so or overnight if you can. Then you will want to take a rubber mallet and tap the hitch ball while lifting the release latch to see if you can get the stuck retention balls to break free.

If you can access the ball from the underside of the truck bed you should spray lube there too as much as possible.

Please note that it is not really a good idea to leave the hitch ball inside the coupler while not in use for this exact reason. If you do then you would want to remove it frequently and apply a good amount of grease to the shank, the White Grease Hitch Ball Lube part # 58117.
