How To Tow a Trailer with 7-Way and Brakes Using a 2015 Ford Explorer With 4-Way

Hi Ok I have a 4 pin setup already but I bought a tear trailer that uses A 7 pin wiring harness and it has a brake controller that is wireless and It plugs into the cigarette lighter in a vehicle. I have a 2015 Ford Explorer limited 4x4 and I bought the hitch and the 4 wire wiring harness from you a few years back, think it’s a tectonics anyway what do I need to do to my explorer to make it functional want a clean kit no adding wires like in some article I saw adding a 40 amp switch I want it to be easy install for a local mechanic to do without hacking into my computer system on board and such Thank you

In order to allow a 2015 Ford Explorer to be able to tow a trailer with brakes you will need to install a 4 to 7-way adapter. For this, the Universal Brake Controller Install Kit part # ETBC7L is what I recommend. This kit is almost completely plug-n-play, you will have to plug the two 4-way ends in together, ground the white wire, and then you will have to run a power wire up to the battery with a circuit breaker in-between but that is all. The kit will work just fine with your wireless brake controller and you won't need anything else for installation. Any local mechanic will be able to do this for you without issue and there is no connections to the factory computer whatsoever. The power wire and circuit breaker however is required no matter what.
