The trailer hitch I recommend for a 2020 Ford Escape (All Models Except Hybrid) is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # CU56FR. The Curt hitch is an excellent option because it has a hidden design which means you only have to see the receiver tube under the rear bumper, not the bulky and unsightly cross tube therefore you will retain a very factory-like appearance. Furthermore, the Curt hitch because it has a hidden design will provide the best ground clearance as well so no need to worry about bottoming out on steep driveways. In regards to installation, the Curt hitch is a bolt-on fit with no drilling required which should only take around 30 minutes or so.
If you will be towing a trailer then you'll also need a trailer wiring harness and the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # TE54FR is your best option which I might also add is plug-n-play. Finally, a ball mount/hitch ball will be needed and for this the eTrailer Ball Mount Kit part # 989900 will have you covered.
