Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2002 Jeep Liberty With Easy Installation and Use
Question:
Hi, which bike rack do you recommend for my Jeep. One that's not heavy and is easy to install with as little parts as possible. I am a female, have some arthritis in my hands, so I need a rack that's easy to remove in the winter. I also have a hitch on my truck. So what do you suggest. Thanks

The Yakima SpareRide 2 Bike Rack, # Y02599, is going to be the easiest bike rack to use on your 2002 Jeep Liberty. At under 30 lbs, it is one of the lightest bike racks that we carry. The initial installation does require some labor simply because the spare tire must be removed, but other than that, the installation is quite simple. Once the base plate is installed this bike rack will be much easier to use and remove than any hitch mounted bike rack on the market.
If any of the bikes that you plan on carrying have small or angled bike frames, then I would recommend picking up the Yakima Tube Top Adapter Bar, # Y02531, as well. Some womens, childrens and alternative bike frames can be difficult to mount on bike racks and this adapter bar allows you to mount the bikes easily and safely.
I have attached an installation video on a Jeep Liberty that will give you an idea on what is involved with the installation as well as a video of the adapter bar.
