Best Value Wheel Mounted Bike Rack For Carbon Fiber Frame Bikes

Question:

Im concerned about the length of the Thule T2 Classic, but want to get a bike rack that wont damage my carbon fiber bike. I read the reviews and their were some concerns, but have there been any reports of actual damage to the frame of a carbon bike transported with the less expensive Thule DoubleTrack Bike Rack that grabs the frame?

The Thule T2 Classic Bike Platform Rack part # TH9044-TH9046 measures 36" from the center of hitch pin hole to the end of the bike rack which is pretty standard for the platform racks. It can be set up to hold 2 or 4 bikes.

We have not really had any complaints regarding damage to the carbon fiber frames when carrying the bikes with a Thule DoubleTrack Pro XT Bike Platform Rack part # TH92BJ. I have also not received feedback from a customer that has tried to use the DoubleTrack with carbon fiber frames

If you are looking for a more cost effective option to carry carbon fiber frame bikes, I recommend RockyMounts MonoRail 2 Bike Platform Rack part # RKY10004 which is also a tilting and fold-up bike rack that carries the bikes by the wheels. This particular RockyMounts bike rack only weighs 38 lbs compared to the Thule T2 Classic that weighs 50 lbs. It also measures 37" from the hitch pin hole to the end of the rack which is a bit longer then the T2 but has a much more affordable price point. It also comes with the locks for the bikes and rack so you don't need to worry about purchasing them separately.
