Upgraded Tires With Higher Load Range for 2019 Forest River Wolf Pup
Question:
My 2019 Forest River Wolf Pup GVWR 3860 with single axle has two ST205/75R14 Load D tires, which means I should be able to have a max load on the tires of 4080 lbs combined. If my calculations are correct, that means I only have a 5 safety margin on the tires. A Is my calculation correct and, if so, B What can I do to get a tire with a greater load capacity as I have not found any tires on my current size with a load range greater than D? Would going to a 15 tire buy me greater load capacity? My current rim is a 5-hole and Im assuming its using the most common lug nut size. C There is plenty of clearance in the wheel will to move up to a 15 tire. D What bump stop would you recommend? I can tell my able had bottomed out against the frame several times. Thanks!

In order to achieve a higher load capacity, you will indeed need to upgrade to a larger size tire, the Westlake ST205/75R15 Radial Tire w 15" Lynx Aluminum Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - LR D - Silver # LHAW320 is a good option for this and will provide you with a 4,300 lb total weight capacity. The 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern is an industry standard and the overall dimensions are 27.1" diameter x 8" wide so you should have room for this new size.
In regard to bump stops, the SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs part # TSS-106-40 are a really good option that will provide additional support/comfort and stop the frame and axle from coming into contact with one another thereby causing potential frame damage.
