Replacement Hydraulic Brakes for a 10K Boat Trailer

Question:

I have a tandem axle boat trailer for 28 foot boat. The actuator is a titan 10k lb hydraulic surge unit, the wheels are six bolts. What size brakes do I need for replacement. Would the axles be 5k lb each since its a tandem? Thus would I need surge brakes for 5k lb axle? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the info! I believe that you are correct and you have 2 axles with about a 5K weight rating. With that being the case it means for replacement surge brakes you need 12" brakes. If you use drum brakes then I recommend the Kit # AKFBBRK-7-D because they have a Dacromet finish that will them last longer in regards to water exposure.

If you happen to have disc brakes then I recommend the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2HR526DS because it uses a combination of Dacromet finish and stainless steel for protection against water.
