Best Cargo Carrier For Use In Salt Water Environment To Avoid Rusting
Question:
I just got a 2" hitch on my 2020 Dodge Journey and I really need a cargo carrier for when we go to Florida. I am worried because my other carrier was exposed to salt water and it rusted after a year

I can understand your concern with rust in a salt water environment. I recommend the Curt Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches - Aluminum part # C18113 which is an aluminum cargo carrier that measures 21-1/8" long x 47-11/16" wide x 3-3/4" deep of usable space. Since it is aluminum is also only weighs 25 lbs so it easier to take in and out the hitch. I do recommend to spray the cargo carrier and hitch down with fresh water periodically to further extend the life of the hitch and cargo carrier. I have attached a helpful article on preventing rust for your reference.
I also recommend to use the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock - Stainless Steel Flush Design for 2" Hitch Receiver part # e98882 to protect your investment. The lock is stainless steel to prevent the lock from corroding and sticking.
