Do Trailer Hub Seals Get Damaged When Pulling Hub Off to Inspect Brake Assemblies

Good day. Im referring to comments by your Jameson to me Ron R. in Dec. of 2019. I have to be clear on one aspect of grease seals, that is their serviceability. Ive recently replaced seals and serviced my bearings. All good, no problems. My question is: If I am being extremely careful, can I pull off my drum, for sole purpose of inspecting / servicing my electric brakes, and then very carefully and safely replace drum onto spindle, without having to remove and replace the grease seal ? Or, does the seal have to be replaced every time the drum is removed ? Thanks

The grease seal will be perfectly fine if you are just pulling the hub/drum off to inspect the brake assemblies or spindles. You'd only have to replace the seal if you wanted to go further and check out the bearings in the hub/drum.

I attached a video that covers inspecting hub/drums for you to check out as well.
