Comparing Draw-Tite and Curt Trailer Hitches for 2020 Ford Ranger

Looks like there are 2 hitches for a 2020 ford ranger from curt and draw tite. Is there really any difference in these hitches or are they pretty much the same thing, install-wise and all the rest.

Expert Reply:

The Draw-Tite and Curt trailer hitches that fit your 2020 Ford Ranger are very similar, with the biggest difference being their respective capacities.

The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # DT73GR has a towing capacity of 7,500 lbs and a tongue weight capacity of 1,125 lbs.

The Curt Trailer Hitch # C13417 has a towing capacity of 6,000 lbs and a tongue weight capacity of 900 lbs.

The only other difference is that the Curt is assembled in the USA while the Draw-Tite is not.

Aside from that, each hitch is a relatively simple bolt-on installation using standard tools - a torque wrench, ratchet, socket, socket extension, and C-clamps. The hitches install the same way - just remove the factory M16 bolts, raising the hitch into position and re-torqueing the bolts to secure the hitch. Additionally, the Curt is a Class III hitch and the Draw-Tite is a class IV with a 2" receiver, have a powder coat to help prevent corrosion and come with a lifetime warranty.

I have added links to the installation instructions of both hitches for you to check out.

For trailer wiring the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7-Way Trailer Connector part # 22124 is a really good choice as it will provide you with a 7-way trailer connector. If you are going to add wiring the DrawTite would be the way to go because it already has the bracket there to connect the 7 way to.
