Adding Trailer Brake Controller Wiring to 7-Way Connector

Question:

Hello, I bought the Bargman 7 way WG54006-043 for my boat trailer it has trailer brakes and the ETBC7 for my 2019 Ford F-150. I didn’t hook up anything on the truck side for brakes...I simply hooked up the existing 4 way I no longer have the spare wires, etc that came with the kit. . I now want to buy and hook up whatever I need to make the trailer brakes work properly. Please let me know what parts are needed. Thank you.

For your 7-way wiring you will want to simply use kit # 5506 to give you the circuit breakers and wire you need for your brake controller and 12V power. This will give you the replacement wiring you lost from your # ETBC7 kit.

If you don't already have a brake controller, I recommend the Prodigy P3 # 90195. I personally think this is one of the best on the market. I've attached a video to assist.

Question:

I wasn’t specific enough in my initial question. I should have indicated that my boat trailer has an actuator style braking system. I need to connect the 7-pin system I bought from etrailer to my 2019 Ford F-150 so the brakes stop engaging every time I back up. Thank you very much. Best regards

If you have a surge brake actuating coupler then you will connect the center pin of your 7-way (reverse light function) to a reverse lockout solenoid like # DM5837. One wire will connect to that center pin wire and the other will connect to ground on your trailer frame.

If you have the electric over hydraulic actuator, the lockout will be integrated so you just need to make sure you have the reverse circuit power.

There should only be power on that circuit when the vehicle is shifted into reverse. If your vehicle side connection doesn't have power, it is most common to splice into your factory wiring behind a tail light to gain that feature.
