Question:
I have a 2016 Range Rover Sport with a naked roof. I was looking at one of the Vortex roof rack kits recommended for my vehicle and it appears that it clamps on to the roof of my vehicle. I would like to carry my Yakima Skybox 16 large cargo box using this rack and was wondering if the clamping mechanisms can actually hold the cargo box at highway speeds? Basically, I am looking for some reassurance on the clamps and their holding ability. My other option is to have costly roof rails installed and then use more traditional cross bars that attach to the roof rails. Thank you

There are a couple options for you. The first option is the Rhino-Rack ROC25 Roof Rack for Naked Roofs - Vortex Aero Crossbars - Aluminum - Black # RR94XR. A second option is the roof rack consisting of part numbers: # RRVA150B-2, # RRRLKVA, and # DK408.
With either option, the custom fit kit clips you are referring to will absolutely not be an issue for your loaded roof box at highway speeds as long as you don't overload the rating of the system itself. Each of these options are rated for 165 lbs capacity but you will also need to consider your Yakima Skybox 16 # Y07335 weighs 47 lbs and will be included in that leaving you with 118 lbs for cargo.
