Why Isnt it Recommended to Carry Carbon Frame Bikes with Thule Hitching Post Bike Rack

Question:

I have been using the Thule Hitching Post x 3 yrs no complaints. I spray the adjusting slides with wd40 they get hard to adjust . But I just noticed in your info not good with carbon Frame . My bike is carbon onl y issue has been rubbing on the frame where the padded arm sits. Ive started using a sheep skin pad over my frame. Are there any other issues I should be aware of? Is it expensive to order and caps Ive lost a couple. Thank you

For carbon frame bikes like yours we don't recommend using bike racks that grab the bikes by the frame as the frame sometimes gets damaged by the frame clamps. Your method of protecting the frame while carrying it with the Thule Hiching Post TH934XTR is a solid way to go. Ideally you'd have a bike rack like the Thule T2 Pro XTR part # TH83JV which only touches the bikes by the tires.
