Question:
I need to replace my safety chains on a travel trailer. The chain length is 24 and the total length is 28 includes the C-hook. The diameter of the chain is 5/16. My trailer gross weight is 6,500#. The original chain is looped around a trailer connection and then welded so I need a quick-link to semi-permanent connect the chain to the trailer attach point. An S or C hook for the vehicle end is good. I put two items in my cart class 4 safety chain-30 proof and blue Ox 1/2 quick link. Do you think these would be correct? I can shorten the chain as needed. I am mainly interested in the safe capacity of the chain and the link. Any other suggestions are welcome Thank you

The two items you mentioned of safety chain # 337B03835SC and Blue Ox Quick Link # BX229-0512 are a really excellent choice for safety chains for your trailer. These have more than enough capacity and are well made so they will last a long time and be easy to use as well. if needed you could cut links off to shorten too.
