Question:
Hi. I have a 2006 42foot diesel coach with air brakes. Im looking to tow my new 14foot enclosed trailer and need advice on installing a brake controller to activate the trailer brakes. Which model controller, etc. I was told by Travel Supreme to contact Spartan who made the chasis to inquire about potential unused wires that run from back to front of the coach that I could use to help the install. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks!

For your electric brake trailer behind an air brake coach, you simply need the correct trailer brake controller. I recommend using the Hayes Air Actuated Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 4 Axles - Proportional # HA100400C which will adapt your air system to electric trailer brakes.
If you already have a 7-way with 12v power in it, you can alternatively use the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 2 Axles - Proportional # C51180 which utilizes a Bluetooth compatible device like a smart phone and has an integrated inertia sensor while capturing your trailer brake light signal to send the correct braking pressure which is adjustable in the app settings.
If the wiring is not present, I recommend using # 5506 for your brake controller power input and trailer brake output as well as circuit breakers needed for your 7-way trailer connector. If you have a 4-way and need a 7-way then use # ETBC7 kit. If you need additional wire use # 10-2-1 sold by the foot.
