Is Curt Class III Trailer Hitch a Good Option for Towing a Tear Drop Trailer with a 2016 Acura RDX
Question:
I would like to install a trailer hitch for my 2016 Acura. I want to pull a tear trailer weight 1250 lbs. Your hitch says it has a tongue weight of 600 lbs TW with 4,000 lbs overall weight. Will that work for me? Thanks

The Curt Trailer Hitch # C13130 is an excellent option for towing a tear drop trailer behind your 2016 Acura RDX! This features a hidden crosstube so it looks very slick, and the 600 lbs tongue/4,000 lbs towing weight capacities are well over the 150 lb tongue/1,500 lbs towing capacities of your RDX (according to your owner's manual).
To complete your towing setup you also need wiring and a ball mount kit. When I looked up the online owner's manual it stated that trailer brakes and a brake controller are recommend for any trailer over 1,000 lbs. This means for wiring you'll need the Curt # 56008 for the basic wiring, and then I recommend installing the Wiring Kit # ETBC7L and using the Curt Echo # C51180 as it is the easiest to install and use (you control it via Bluetooth with your Apple/Android).
For a ball mount kit I recommend checking out Kit # 989900 because it includes two ball mounts, one with a 3/4” rise/2” drop and the other with a 2-3/4” rise/4” drop, a 1-7/8” hitch ball, a 2” hitch ball, and a pin and clip. You will want to refer to the attached ball mount article to ensure that this kit is correct for your towing application.
Please note that when I looked up the online owner's manual it stated that the max towing weight rating of your RDX is 1,500 lbs. If the 1,250 lbs you mentioned for the trailer is the dry (unloaded) weight then you'll want to calculate how much cargo you'll be loading in the trailer to make sure you don't overload your vehicle.
