How to Wire Lippert Smart Electric Jack to 7-Way
Question:
Hi, I have a 2015 Pacific Coachworks Tango 16BB 21 foot travel trailer. I like to change my manual jack to a power jack. Is this easy to install this myself? What should I be mindful of? When plugging In my vehicle factory tow pin, will I need to run the engine to make the jack work? I have a 2015 Toyota Sequoia with factory hitch and pin. Thanks in advance.

The Lippert Smart Jack Electric Trailer Jack # LC643589 that you referenced is a great option to upgrade/replace the manual jack on your 2015 Pacific Coachworks Tango 21 foot Travel Trailer. You'll just want to make sure the new jack is of equal or higher capacity, and measures similar to the jack you're replacing.
The Smart Jack uses standard hardware to install and ground to your trailer's A-frame. Then, to power the jack, you'll just use the single wire coming out of the jack and run it to the 12 volt accessory circuit of the 7-way on your trailer's wiring.
Typically, the 12-volt circuit on a factory 7-way connector goes through a fuse box before running to the vehicle battery. This could be connected to a switch that powers it off when you turn the ignition off as well.
You can use a circuit tester like # PTW2992 to check for power at the 1'o clock position on the Sequoia's 7-way. If it's hot with the engine off, you'll know it will power your jack regardless if the engine is running or not.
Keep in mind that the Lippert Smart Jack # LC643589 dwaws approximately 30 amps, which is possibly the limit of your tow package's 12V circuit, so you may consider installing a battery on your trailer to power the jack instead.
