Availability of Hitch Extension To Keep Pickup From Hitting RV When Being Flat Towed
Question:
I have an Aladdin tow hitch. I tow a small pick up and when I make a sharp turn around my truck that I am towing hits my RV and damages the back. It hit the left side on a trip I just took and broke the fiberglass on the RV. Will the hitch adapter extend the Aladdin hitch so that the truck will be further away from the back of the RV? I see 12-1/2inch from pin hole to hitch adapter. Does that put the truck further away?

The Roadmaster High-Low Hitch Adapter, part # RM-048-8, will extend the truck further away from the RV, but it will also change the height of your tow bar connection. It has a 8 inch rise or drop which will either raise or lower the tow bar connection of your pickup to the RV. If you have a level connection now you will not want to use the # RM-048-8 to extend your vehicle away from the RV.
The end of the tow bar that attaches to the base plates on the vehicle should not exceed a rise or drop of 3 inches from the center of the RV hitch receiver to be level. So, to keep your vehicle level, but extend it away from the RV, I would recommend to look at the Roadmaster Hitch Extension, part # RM-071. This extension will measure 11 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the receiver pin hole, but it does not raise or lower the connection of your tow bar.
If you do need to raise or lower your connection to make your tow bar level, we do offer adapters with a different rise or drop that will help you make your tow bar level. The adapters with the different rise or drop will also have a longer extension to them. I am including a link to a product page that will show those adapters.
