Wiring a 2000 Nissan Frontier with Diodes to Flat Tow

Do I need 4 or 6 diodes for a 2000 Nissan Frontier? I have a taillight convertor installed on a T-connector harness so I am assuming that it has a separate brake and turn signal. If this is the case, I have an extra convertor, can it be used in reverse? If I use 4 Diodes will it still work, just the brake on the turn side blink?

Since your 2000 Nissan Frontier has separate turn signals and brake lights there are a couple of options. You could use just 4 diodes and the lights on the truck will function as a combined system. You will also need a brake light relay, # RM-88400, for use with a supplemental braking system if you want to just use 4 diodes.

If you want to retain the separate brake and turn signals on the vehicle you would need to use 6 diodes if the towing vehicle also has a separate system.

Basically you will want to determine if the towing vehicle has a separate or combined system and then use the diagrams on the product page for # 38955 to determine which set up you need. If you can tell me what the towing vehicle has, I can tell you exactly what you will need to do.

The wiring harness you have on the vehicle is for towing a trailer and cannot be used in reverse.
