There are a few different jaw types on a 5th wheel hitch. A slide bar can be found on the less expensive hitches like a Pro Series PS30094. A slide bar, while secure, is going to provide the least snug fit and you will notice the king pin making some noise.
Next are double jaws and are much more secure and cut down quite a bit on the movement and noise of the king pin. Many Reese, Curt, and other brand mid-level and higher end hitches have the double locking jaw design like # RP30075.
The most secure style is a single-piece jaw like in the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider 18,000lbs # DM8550034 that wraps around the king pin. I have linked instructions for you to view.
