Question:
Hi, I am looking at the baseplate for the 2014 F150. For the BX2681 BO74FR I see that it is two separate brackets that are independent of each other. The previous iteration of the baseplate BX2671 had a cross bar that kept the two connection points separated. Is the separation no longer needed, or do I need to change my tow bar to compensate for this? For example the Road Master tow bar has the cross bar that separates the connection points I assume to reduce stress on the towed vehicle when starting / stopping. Thanks

The Blue Ox base plate kit part # BO74FR that you referenced does not require a crossbar between the two mounts. This style of base plate is more common on trucks as they have much more robust frames than other vehicles. Due to this difference a crossbeam is just not needed. Your tow bar would work easily with this.
