Transmission Cooler, Brake Controller and Other Parts to Tow with 2016 Toyota RAV4
Question:
I would like to prepare my 2016 Toyota Rav4 XLE for towing. I will be making a 4-6 month trip through all terrain both on and off road. I have been told I need an oil cooler and a transmission cooler and then a thermostat for them. I am not sure how to choose the best one for my vehicle. Any advice would help. Also do I need to add air bags? Is there something I can do to increase the max tongue weight 150 lbs currently to allow the use of different RVs? Are there any recommendations for brake controllers, sway bars, and also 7 pin electrical wiring? Is there anything else I may need to do? Thank you for your help.

For a combination engine oil and transmission cooler the Derale part # D15902 would be a great choice. There isn't a way to safely increase your towing capacity though. Only Toyota could be the ones who could make that call.
For suspension enhancement the best option is the Firestone kit part # F4174. You'd have such a low tongue weight rating I wouldn't recommend weight distribution. For sway control the part # 83660 is a really great option though.
For trailer wiring you'd need to start with the part # 118578 and then to convert to 7-way part # ETBC7L so that you can install the Curt Echo Mobile part # C51180 which is by far the easiest to install option.
