Recommended Vent Fan for Cargo Van with Reversible Motor
Question:
I am looking for a maxxair mini deluxe trailer roof vent that also has intake air. Is there such a product? If not, then I will settle for 03801 with following questions: 1. Will it work in E-250 cargo van if I don’t have any added roof material/insulation/support ribs? 2. Can I add a wood or metal frame to connect to the Existing support Ribs on standard cargo van roof? 3. What are all the pieces/supplies I need for new install for butyl tape, screws, sealant, connectors, wiring, etc? Is there a kit I can purchase that includes everything I will need? Thank you

In order for a vent fan to have both an intake and exhaust feature it will need to have a reversible motor. The MaxxAir Mini Deluxe Trailer Roof Vents like part # MA00-03801 for white or part # MA00-03851 for black don't have reversible motors. Instead, I recommend the Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent part # FV801250.
In regards to installation which will apply to pretty much all roof vents, the roof thickness will need to be at least an 1". That said, if you have a thin metal roof like in a van you can use bracing whether that be wood or metal to bridge the gap and then you should be fine.
We offer the Roof Vent Installation Kit part # 344270KITW which comes with everything you need for installation.
