Locks Available for the Carpod Walled Cargo Carrier # M2200-01-02 on a 1999 GMC Safari
Question:
I Have a 1999 GMC SAFARI. DOES THIS CARRIER HAVE A LOCK

Expert Reply:
The Carpod Walled Cargo Carrier with Lockable Lid and Cargo Bag # M2200-01-02 will work with the Master Lock Covered Solid Body Padlock # 141T. If you are looking for a hitch lock, I would recommend the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # e98880. I have included a video of the hitch lock for you to check out. Both locks are sold separately from the cargo carrier.
You will need a 2 inch receiver to carry this cargo carrier on your 1999 GMC Safari. If you do not have a receiver, I recommend the Draw-Tite Class III Receiver Hitch # 75122. With a towing capacity of 5000 lbs and a tongue weight of 500 lbs, it will provide more than enough strength for the Carpod Walled Cargo Carriers maximum weight capacity of 450 lbs.
I have provided a video link for some helpful hints regarding this receiver hitch.
The clearance from the distance of the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest edge of the carrier is 4 inches. This is shorter than most. When choosing a trailer hitch mounted accessory like a cargo carrier, it is important to know the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole on the vehicle out to the distance required to clear the rear bumper. Even with the same model vehicle, this measurement can vary slightly so it is best to take the measurement with the hitch installed.
