Best Bike Rack For Bikes With Fenders On My 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

Question:

Hello, I am interested in the Thule DoubleTrack Pro 2 Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4inch and 2inch Hitches - Frame Mount - TH9054 for my 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. I do have soem questions: Do I need an extender to clear the rear spare tire? When the rack is folded down will the rear tailgate of the Jeep be able to open? This is the best rack option to mount bikes with fenders while still having tire rails to mount the bike on, correct? Do you sell the Thule Carbon Frame protector for carbon fiber bike frames? Thank you very much.

Most bike racks will need a hitch extender to clear the spare tire. There are some options that will clear without a hitch extender though, the Thule Helium Platform 2 # TH44VR worked well when I used it on a 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and it will be about the same fit on your 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, but it isn't made for bikes with fenders. Even when using a hitch extender like the Curt # C45791 you won't be able to completely open the rear tailgate when using the Thule DoubleTrack Pro # TH9054 or the Kuat NV 2.0 # BA22B. For your situation though, both the Kuat NV 2.0 and the Thule Helium Platform are not the perfect bike rack for you.

The best rack for you is exactly what you found which is the Thule DoubleTrack Pro # TH9054. Use the DoubleTrack with the Curt Hitch Extender # C45791 to be able to use the rack without making contact with your spare tire and we do carry the Thule Carbon Bike Frame Protector # TH984101.

There is only one way to be able to open your rear tailgate completely and for that you need the Thule Access # TH9037. This is a product I recommend to ANY jeep owner, just because it does not limit your jeep when having any sort of accessory installed. I think it's something you will be happy you purchased.
