Options For Carrying A Kayak In The Bed Of A 2017 Ram 1500 Pickup Truck With A Tonneau Cover

Question:

I want to use the J style kayak carrier but I dont want to add it to my roof and want to know if it would fit any bed rack such as the ladder rack. I do have a roll up tonneau cover and would like to keep it on but I can take it off if need be. I have a 2017 Ram 1500 Laramie Crew cab, 5 7 bed.

We can figure something out so you can keep your tonneau cover on. One option would just be getting the Darby Extend-A-Truck Kayak Carrier w/ Hitch Mounted Load Extender and Single-Bar Roof Rack # DTA944-968-924. You will have to have your tonneau cover rolled up to use this but it will work!

If you aren't opposed to removing your tonneau cover, I recommend getting the Yakima BedRock HD System # Y01160-59 with the Yakima LongArm # Y01149. This is a more attractive system to look at in my opinion and it has SO MUCH more things you can do with it. Not only could you use our Kayak Carriers # e98878 you could put a cargo basket # TH859XT on there too! I've done it and it looks pretty sweet!
