Will Torflex Lift Kit for #10 Torflex Axle Allow Larger Tires

Question:

I have a 2012 LivinLite Camplite 13RDB travel trailer. It has a Dexter Torflex single axle #10 rated for 3,000 lbs mounting bolts 8” apart center to center. I want to add the 2 5/8inch torsion lift kit Item # K71-707-01 that matches the axle for added ground clearance. Currently, the trailer has 13” tires. I’m confident I’ll be able to put 14” tires on after the lift kit but was wondering if 15” tires would be possible? Currently, there is a 2” gap between the top of the 13” tire and the bottom of the wheel well externally mounted plastic wheel well trim. A 1 ¾” gap between tire and bottom of wheel well trim. Any insight or advice on the potential to mount a 15” tire would be greatly appreciated. note I have already ordered the lift kit from etrailer. Thank you!

Thanks for the purchase of the Torflex Lift Kit # K71-707-01, and to determine if you can add a 15 inch tire, I recommend waiting to install the lift kit first so you can take a measurement. The reason why is, the general rule of thumb is you want at least 3 inches of clearance from the top of the tire to your fender, and 1 inch of clearance from the tire to the inside of the frame. And a 15 inch tire will be bigger in diameter as well as wider, so you'll want to measure to see if you have enough room.

Since the lift kit will add about 2-5/8 inches of clearance between your trailer frame and axle, it will probably be cutting it close with your current clearance. You are right you will have no issue with a 14 inch tire but it may not be enough for a 15 inch tire.

Once you do get the measurements you can make that determination, and I have added a link to our selection of both 14 inch and 15 inch tires for you to come back to.
