Troubleshooting Maxxair Fan 5301 To Determine if Motor Needs Replaced

Question:

our maxxair fan which is a 5301 wont work. We tried hooking it to battery and nothing. We have an electrician check it and it supposedly is either the circuit board or the motor. How do I tell the difference we which one is causing the issue? I does absolutely nothing when hooked up by wires or touched to a battery. Thank you

The way to test the motor is to bypass the circuit board by disconnecting the motor and then applying power from your battery using a jump wire to one wire while connecting a grounded wire to the other wire of the motor.

It sounds like you did this and the motor didn't turn with direct power applied. So you know it is the motor and can replace it with the Replacement 12-Volt Variable Speed Fan Motor for MaxxAir MaxxFan RV Roof Vents # MA10-20968.
