Safety Locking Pin on Reese Round Tube Slider Base

I saw the question about the safety pin but I’m still confused. I have the newer model that includes the safety pin and has a hole and sticker that shows where to put the safety pin. But the hole stops and the pin does not go through all the way and the pin does nothing. Do I need to drill out a hole on the inside as well?

The Reese Round Tube Slider for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches - 10" Travel - 20,000 lbs # RP50024 with the locking pin is an added safety measure on the newer sliders. There is no need to drill anything as the pin is simply there to keep the Indicator pin from rotating and unlocking the slider function of the hitch which is dangerous. It sounds like yours is working as intended.
