Cargo Basket Mounted on an UltraGroove Tonneau Cover on a 2016 Ford F-150

Question:

I would like to mount a Yakima Skinny Warrior on the bed of my 2016 Ford F150 but I would like to mount it from left to right instead of front to back. It would be positioned where a tool box would typically be mounted. I have a Pace Edwards UltraGroove tonneau cover which accepts a variety of Thule and Yakima racks. Can the Skinny Warrior be mounted in this fashion, left to right? If so, what do I need to attach it?

We do have Yakima and Thule crossbar systems that will install with your UltraGroove Tonneau Cover.

For Yakima, you can go with the HD Bars, choosing whichever length works best for you. We have a 68" set, part # Y01158, and a 78" set, part # Y01159. To pair them with your tonneau tracks, combine the bars with the HD Bar SL Adapter, part # Y03541; the Skyline Towers, part # Y00148; and the Landing Pad 19, part # Y00245. I've linked to a video review of the HD Bars.

For the Thule crossbars, you can go with the Wingbar Evo, again choosing whichever length works for you. The 60" set is part # TH711520. To pair them, combine the bars with the Rapid Podium Feet, part # TH460R; and the Fit Kit for the Podium Feet, part # THKIT4093. I've linked to the Wingbar Evo video review as well.

Unfortunately, due to the Yakima Skinny Warrior's, part # Y07014, clamping style, this rack cannot be positioned sideways. You could use the Yakima LoadWarrior Basket, part # Y07070. This fits the same way and will extend back about 44 inches. It's 20 inches further back than the Skinny Warrior turned, but since cargo baskets don't turn that way, the 44 inches of the LoadWarrior is the least distance back.

On the plus side, the LoadWarrior has width of 39 inches, making almost a complete square which will allow you to fit much more than the Skinny Warrior. I've included a review of this basket.
