Difference Between Curt A20 and Q20 Slider Hitches

Question:

One of your reps recommend the Patriot. Im towing with a 2012 Dodge Ram short box. Reading customer comments and watching a couple videos, Im concerned about the 12 inch slide causing trailer pin box to hit tailgate. Do you know if this will happen. Been using a Reese 16K slider older one. Thanks in advance.

The A series of Curt 5th wheel trailer hitches, such as # C16541, is the newest version and is replacing the Q series # C16536. The A series jaws overlap whereas the Q series butt up against each other more than overlap. And the bearing and shaft that the head pivots on is different between the 2. They do look very similar, in fact the specs and design are identical like you said, but you can think of the A series as the new and improved version of the Q series.

Reese, Curt, and B and W do make excellent hitches but if you were looking for the best while not being overly expensive I would go with the B and W Patriot Slider part # BWRVK3270 as it has the superior jaw design, highest quality, and also a slider that is MUCH less prone to binding up like the square tube Reese hitches.

The Patriot slider part # BWRVK3270 would not push the pin box back far enough to hit the tailgate beyond what your Reese slider hitch did. It would give you the clearance you need with a better jaw design.
