Can a Transmission Cooler Be Mounted with the Hose Fittings Facing Down

Question:

Was told the Tru Cool LPD should be mounted fitting up. upper bypass for cold fluid? Can this Derale plate style cooler be mounted hose fittings down and not impact the performance of the cooler ?

The Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler, # D13612, can be mounted in any orientation that you need including having the hose fittings down. This transmission cooler is not a low pressure drop cooler with the cold fluid bypass. The line pressure from the transmission will push all of the fluid through the cooler regardless of how it is mounted.

My recommendation on mounting this transmission cooler is finding a location that maximizes air flow through the cooler. Ideally, this would be in front of the radiator or AC condenser.

I have attached two FAQ articles on transmission coolers for you to check out.
