Batteries Not Charging, Do I Need to Replace the Converter?  

I have a 1998 Fleetwood Southwind 35s, and I have never been able to plug the motorhome into a receptacle. Lately the house batteries have been getting low and even with the generator on, which is just died recently, and even though I have it plugged into a 120v 50Amp receptacle, the lights wont stay lit and begin to dim, even though I replaced them with LEDs and have solar panels connected to each battery, they wont charge unless I start up the chassis engine and use the alternator. Once that is on, the lights come up and stuff works again, even with the shore cord plugged in, the lights won't stay on. I can't tell what model of Power Dynamics converter I have because its so covered in dust, but I have no idea if it ever worked. Should I just replace the fuses and see if that helps, or bite the bullet and replace it anyways for an updated and new one? What would you recommend for a replacement? A similar Power Dynamics one or a PowerMax model?
